About Nassia Gofa

Nassia Gofa was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
She studied at the Geology and Geo-Environment School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, specializing in Paleontology.
 
In 2000, she began studying at the “Athenaeum – Maria Kallas Conservatory”, under the guidance of musicians/educators Sylvios Syrros and Sofia Noiti. She graduated and received her Diploma in Jazz Vocals.
 
Since then, she has become an inseparable part of the Greek Jazz scene, not only because of her collaboration with the most prominent musicians, but also as a leading member of many musical groups.
 
In 2019, at the BAM Fisher Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, she held the role of Iokasti in the opera “Oedipus – Sex with Mum was Blinding” written and directed by Elli Papakonstantinou, original music by Tilemachos Moussas and Julia Kent, which ran for five performances.
In 2021, the sequel of the above-mentioned play, was live-streamed with the title: ‘’Hotel Anti-Oedipus’’and its first digital premiere was created at the Centre Pompidou Paris in collaboration with IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique), with the participants performing live from five different countries.
 
She performed at the Neimenster Concert Hall of Luxemburg, in 2016.
She has performed at numerous festivals and musical stages all over Greece, as well as at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall, the Onassis Stegi, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Athens Technopolis.
Nassia Gofa has participated in the albums “Dog to the bone” (Happy Dog Project), “We became Chicago” (Aces of Salvador), “Bossa Nova” (Demode), “Between realities” (Groove Elation Project), “Cargo” (Christos Tampouratzis) and on two tracks for the album “Revisiting Mikis Theodorakis” which was distributed nation-wide with the daily newspaper “Newspaper of the Editors”.
 
 Ηer first personal album “ Herkyna – Nassia Gofa & The Jazz Tales”  was released on June 2023.
 
Nassia teaches jazz vocals and improvisation at many prestigious conservatories in Athens, Greece.
