About Jazz Tales

“Jazz Tales Trio” is based in Athens and consists of the musicians: Nassia Gofa Jazz singer, Stefanos Kozanis on the piano and Kostas Patsiotis on the double bass.

The experienced, deeply knowledgeable Jazz singer Nassia Gofa exchanges melodic lines with the virtuoso pianist Stefanos Kozanis and these are intertwined on top of the sparkling keyboard playing, while the double bass of Kostas Patsiotis with his ethereal bow provides the rhythm of the backbone that beats inside the spaces where – with passion – they  convey the emotions that they themselves draw from the constantly renewed freshness of the pieces they perform.

The brilliant songwriting, the inspired lyrics and the evocative improvisation of each member of “Jazz Tales”, are transformed into sections of collective improvisation with the musicians illuminating the contemporary Jazz scene. 

The band’s infectious swing always finds its way to listeners’ ears, and because Jazz is a music that seeks to embody the full spectrum of human experience – from the triumphant to the tragic – “Jazz Tales” also manages to find rhythms of melancholic respite.

Jazz includes sadness and grief, but more often than not, this music represents the spirit of hope and perseverance needed to get through difficult times, as recently in the pandemic years.  This is exactly what the “Jazz Tales Trio” delivers to its audience with their original compositions and innovative arrangements of compositions by the great jazz composers.

The result sounds like a message arriving from a past we have not yet encountered.

Nassia Gofa is a graduate of the Athenaeum Maria Callas Conservatory and studied at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Stefanos Kozanis is a graduate of the Athenaeum Maria Callas Conservatory and the National Technical University of Athens.

Kostas Patsiotis is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University.
