About Alexandros Affolter

Alexandros Affolter was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and studied Acting, Jazz and Musical Theatre at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. Since 1994, Alexander has been a professional singer and has sung in various jazz clubs (Alto, Bimhuis, and Paradiso in Amsterdam, Porgy & Bess Jazz Club in Vienna, Spice of Life, Zedel, and Vortex in London, Parafono, Zoo, Afrikana, Gazarte, Half Note Jazz Club, and Cafe Nomismatic Mouseio in Athens) and festivals (Jazz Festival Loosdrecht in Loosdrecht, The Netherlands, Muse Jazz Festival, Jazz Sto Parko, Jazz Stin Plateia Athens Epidaurus Festival in Athens, Greece) in Europe. In 2018, Alexandros sang at the Barley Cargo International Jazz Festival in Athens, at the Melitzazz Jazz Festival in Leonidio and performed a concert dedicated to Frank Sinatra entitled “Sinatra With A Twist” at Syntagma Square, as part of the Christmas celebrations of the Municipality of Athens, which was repeated in 2019. From Winter 2019 to Autumn 2022, 11 sold out concerts of “Sinatra With A Twist” in the garden of Café Nomismatiko Mouseio and three sold out concerts of “Tribute to Tony Bennett”. In the Greek jazz scene, Alexandros has performed with Dimitris Kalantzis, Antonis Ladopoulos, Dimitris Vassilakis, Seraphim Bellos, Manos Loutas, Pantelis Benetatos, Perikles Trivolis, George Georgiadis, George Polychronakos, Spyros Panagiotopoulos, Alexandros Drakos Ksistakis, Dimitris Papadopoulos, Markos Chaidemenos, Grigoris Theodoridis, Sami Amiris, Kostas Konstantinou, Gilad Atzmon and Dimitris Tsakas. In November 2021, he took part in the Golden Voices performance of the Athens Big Band, at the Olympia Municipal Theatre, under the artistic direction of Sami Amiris and the musical direction of Manos Theodosakis. In December 2021, May and November 2022 he presented the project “Sinatra with a Twist” at the Half Note Jazz Club with the “Alexandros Affolter Quintet”. At Gazarte, February 2022 he participated in the project “Two of a kind- Echoes of Tony Bennett’s duets” by Dimitris Kalantzis. In June 2022, Alexandros performed with the Athens Big Band in the garden of the Arts Centre for “All Athens one stage”. In July 2022, with the “Alexandros Affolter Quartet”, he performed with the groups of Alexandra Sieti, Melina Paxinos, Manos Theodosakis, Dimitris Sevdalis, and Dimitris Tsakas at Jazz in the Square (Jazz Stin Plateia) at 260 Piraeus Square as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. In December 2022, he participated in the Athens Big Band’s performance of  “Swinging Christmas with Ella & Frank” at the Olympia Municipal Theatre Maria Callas. He also participated with the “Alexandros Affolter Quintet” in the festive events of the Municipality of Athens at Syntagma Square.
